Financial
Aid
MSE
Typically, the department provides no financial aid for Master's
students. Some special fellowships may be given to eligible
applicants with exceptionally good backgrounds.
There is no need to contact a specific Professor to ask for financial
aid. However, it may help if you contact a professor and
let him/her know about your background and interests. Sometimes,
a Professor may be willing to support a student from research grants
right from the first year. If you have a question specific to his/her
research, he/she will be happy to answer it for you, which would
create an opportunity for you to maintain a contact with the professor.
Ph.D.
A single application covers both admission and financial aid. A
complete application including admission fee, which partially
covers the processing cost of the admission materials, must be
submitted by June 1 for fall semester candidates. However the
deadline for financial aid consideration is January 2, hence
those with financial needs must abide by this earlier application
deadline.
For more information about financial aid with regards to the PhD
program click
here.

Test Scores
GRE
The GRE exam is required for applying to the PhD program only.
The GRE exam will not be waived for any reason. If you are applying
to the MSE program, the exam is not required.
The minimum GRE score is a combined score of 2000
out of a possible 2400.
GRE scores are evaluated as (Verbal Reasoning +
Quantitative Reasoning + (133.33 * Analytical Writing)) which makes
it a total of 2400.
TOEFL
Foreign students whose native language is not English are required
to submit an official TOEFL examination score of 100, 250 or 600
(depending on which test was taken) better unless they have spent
at least three years at an academic institution in an English speaking
country.
The requirement can be waived if the candidate has completed at
least three years of academic work on a full-time basis at an institution
in the United States or in another nation in which English is the
official language.
Test Score Reporting Codes
The GRE reporting code is 2926 (school code) along with 1502 (department
code). The TOFEL reporting code is 2888.
