Admission to the MSE Program
Prior to matriculation in the M.S.E. program, candidates must
have
completed an undergraduate degree in engineering or science from
a recognized program and obtained a minimum grade point average
of 3.0 out of 4.0. Applicants whose native language is not English
are required to satisfy our English language proficiency requirement
by submitting an official Test of English as a Foreign Language
(TOEFL) score of at least 600 (written test), 250 (computer-based
test), or 100 (internet-bsed test). The requirement can be waived
if the candidate has completed
at least three years of academic work on a full-time basis at a
university-level institution in the United States or in another
nation in which English is the official language. Typically, the
department provides no financial aid for Master's students.
Some special fellowships may be given to eligible applicants with
exceptionally good backgrounds.
How to Apply
Candidates may apply for admission to the School of Engineering
by completing the application form which consists of: biographical
information; a personal statement; two official letters of recommendation;
one official transcript from each university attended and statement
of class rank and grade point
average from each university or college attended. Each application
must include a non-refundable $70 application fee.
To insure full consideration, the application for admission, the
application fee, official transcripts, letters of recommendation,
and other required documents must be received by the appropriate
office at least two months prior to the anticipated first semester
of enrollment. While we prefer receiving applications for admission
to the M.S.E. program by January 1 for the fall semester,
we will process applications (assuming that there are openings)
as late as June 1.
