Tenure-track Positions in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (MEAM)

The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics within the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania seeks outstanding applicants for tenure-track assistant professors. In exceptional cases, applicants for tenured associate and full professorships will also be considered. We seek applicants with exceptional research achievements and future promise who will take a position of international leadership in defining their field of study. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work is at the intersection of mechanical engineering and computational science. This includes research in computation that is connected to multiple areas of mechanical engineering, such as, but not limited to, design and optimization, mechanics, manufacturing, robotics and controls, fluids, thermal sciences, and health and medicine.

Two Postdoc Positions: DFT/MD and AFM of Oxide Interfaces

The School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for two full-time Postdoctoral Researcher positions in the laboratories of Prof. D.S. Srolovitz and Prof. Robert W. Carpick.

These two positions are part of a multi-year, multi-institutional, interdisciplinary research effort on the development, characterization, and integration of materials for nano-electromechanical systems (NEMS) switch technology, funded by the National Science Foundation. The project involves close collaboration between computational materials scientists (DFT and MD) and experimentalists (materials scientists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers). The project spans from first principles materials selection up to the fabrication of working NEMS devices.
